Increased urbanisation, greater traffic problems and a rise in pollution levels have inspired more and more cities and countries to invest in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).

ITS solutions are a vital part of the Smart City concept. Besides reducing traffic, they result in fewer accidents, as well as a higher quality of life thanks to lower vehicle emission levels. Additionally, a reduction in fuel consumption and travel delays brings major economic benefits. Rather than spend huge amounts on expanding transportation networks, countries are choosing the economic, environmental and societal benefits of ITS solutions.

TagMaster offers advanced ITS solutions, using RFID and ANPR technology to provide the information necessary for Smart City functionality.

For instance, our solutions can be used for green flow – automatic green lights for buses and emergency services – and priority lanes where traffic needs to be limited. TagMaster’s long-range readers are mounted well ahead of the traffic lights; when vehicles with authorised tags pass by, the traffic lights receive a signal and turn green. The system can be installed quickly and easily, without the inconvenience of closing off streets and redirecting traffic.

Increased traffic congestion and fuel emissions have led to more and more Journey Time Monitoring Systems and Congestion Charging Schemes being installed. The systems must be able to handle hundreds of lanes. In our cameras, the ANPR processing is performed inside the camera and the data is transmitted back to base through fibre/4G. Installation costs are greatly lowered, as no roadside equipment is needed; bandwidth requirements are kept to a minimum, as only plate reads and any required associated images are transmitted. The Journey Time Monitoring System has a full graphical interface and can display real-time traffic information on its control screen. It can also output data to larger traffic management systems.
