What happens to vehicle access when the connection to the access control system is temporarily lost?
With Relay Backup in TagMaster RFID Long Range Readers, authorized vehicles can continue to access the site even if communication with the access controller is interrupted.
During normal operation, the RFID Long Range Readers sends tag events to the access controller, which manages access and opens the barrier. If the connection is lost, the reader can automatically switch to backup operation, using its local user database and internal relay to control the barrier. Access continues. Events are saved.
Access continues. Events are saved. No manual intervention required.
With Relay Backup:
- Authorized vehicles can still enter during a communication failure
- The reader automatically switches to local operation
- Tag events are stored locally while the connection is unavailable
- Stored events are sent to the controller when communication is restored
- Connection status is included in the event data, providing visibility of when events were processed during normal or backup operation
Build more resilient vehicle access solutions
For industrial sites, logistics facilities, commercial properties and other secured locations, a temporary network or controller communication problem should not necessarily mean a closed gate.
Relay Backup adds another level of resilience to the RFID Long Range solution, helping installers and integrators build reliable vehicle access systems that keep operating when communication is interrupted.
